·         We use reported speech when a person reports (explains) what another person has said:

DIRECT SPEECH --------------------------------à REPORTED SPEECH

SAM: “ My father works in this hospital”à Sam said that his father worked in that
                                                                    hospital



There are A)pronoun changes, B) verb tense changes and C)time and place expression changes:
A/ PRONOUNS CHANGE depending on the person who is reporting the sentence.
Linda: “You told me this story”--------à Linda said that I had told her that story.

QUESTIONS IN REPORTED SPEECH
When we report questions we have to use the same word order as in  affirmative sentences--à Subject + verb
There are 2 types of questions:
A) –Wh QUESTIONS: Questions that begin with WHO / WHAT/ WHERE / WHEN / WHY....
“What are you doing?”, Jane asked-à Jane asked what I was doing.
B) IF QUESTIONS: the rest of the questions (questions that can be answered with yes or no)
“Do you like cheese?”, he asked-à he asked if I liked cheese.
